By March 17, 2018One Comment

So, every time I suggest my clients take a multivitamin daily, I get questions like “Why do we need it?”, “Do we have to take it even if we are not working out that day?”, “why should we have medicines and tablets when we aren’t sick?

So much so that one client was complainant that his mother is not allowing him to take supplements so he can’t eat multivitamin tablets too. Hence, I thought that I should grab this opportunity to educate people about the importance of multivitamins.

In this blog you will learn:

o    Why should everyone take a multivitamin

o    Top 5 health benefits of taking multivitamins

o    What impact do multivitamins have on your weight loss goals?

o    When to take a multivitamin tablet for maximized results.

By the end of this article, I hope that everyone understands that multivitamins are not steroids and everyone should and must take them daily.

Why should everyone take a multivitamin tablet:

With men and women sharing equal amounts of stress at work and home, couples are missing out mostly on a healthy diet and hence, the right nutrition. It all begins by missing out on breakfast to reach office on time and to skipping lunches and dinners to meet deadlines.
That’s just how the problem of vitamin or calcium deficiency enters in your life. This deficiency is also prominent in people who’re pure vegetarians, people who’re averse to having even eggs. Add to that, the lifestyle people have today. All this doubles the reason as to why an increasing number of people are deficient in vitamins. Keeping in mind the rising cases of adulteration in food items these days, taking a multivitamin becomes a must. Even the food in the market is supplemented with artificial ingredients and colorings. Vegetables are old and dry. Then when we purchase them, we don’t use them immediately and let them lie in our refrigerators for another 4 days, letting the vegetables lose their freshness. Then boiling the vegetables for long followed by frying them in loaded oil and spicing it up by putting all spices possible. What’s more, we consume refrigerated left-overs after our meals and then perhaps have it the next day. Now, in all of this, do you really think there’ll be any nutrients left for the body to take its strength from?

Top 5 health benefits of taking multivitamins:

1)Healthy aging:

our nutritional needs increase as we grow old and it gets harder for the body to absorb nutrients. Medications can further deplete our body of nutrients. A multivitamin can offset these deficiencies.

2)Good for your heart:

taking a high-quality multivitamin may reduce cardiovascular disease. Vitamins B1, B2, B6, K1, Niacin (B3), CoQ10 and magnesium, improves cardiovascular health.

3)Reduces cancer risk:

Vitamin use has been associated with a decreased risk of certain types of cancers.

4)Boosts immunity:

Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant known for strengthening the immune system. Vitamins D and E boost immunity, too. These vitamins can also help reduce allergy symptoms.

5)Supports eye health:

Vitamins A, C, E, Niacin (B3), and selenium support eye health. A lutein and Zeaxanthin supplement protects the eyes from harmful light waves. Multivitamins containing a combination of vitamins, lutein, and zeaxanthin can reduce the risk of macular degeneration.

6) Healthy hair and skin:

Vitamins B3 (Niacin), biotin, and Vitamin C promote fuller hair & Vitamins A, C, E, and CoQ10 promotes healthy skin.

The impact multivitamins have on your weight loss goals:

taking multivitamins helps in burning more calories.  vitamins and minerals are important for proper metabolism. Metabolism is the chemical reaction in your body when the food you eat gets converted into energy.

When to take a multivitamin tablet:

One tablet a day is more than sufficient. The supplements can be taken at any time of the day. They are effective whether you take them before meals, after meals or even on an empty stomach.

On a personal note, I tried taking a multivitamin tablet just before bed for a few weeks and found it to be slightly more beneficial.

You should exercise daily, but even if you stop for a while, multivitamins will have the same effect. They provide equal nutrients whether you are exercising or not.
